Six Smith County roads approved for reconstruction

SMITH COUNTY — The Smith County Commissioners Court approved reconstruction contracts for six county roads on Tuesday as part of a bond program according to our news partner KETK.
The following projects were awarded to the lower bidders for each as part of the Road and Bridge Bond Program. All the projects were awarded to either Texana Land & Asphalt Inc. or A.E. Shull & Company.
County Road 26
CR 26 will be widened with cement stabilization from the existing base material. The area will also be paved with new asphalt for a cost of $1.69 million.

These changes will take place from FM 850 to County Road 21, covering 5.16 miles of improvement, with construction scheduled to begin within the next two to three months.
County Road 27
The reconstruction for CR 27 correlates with CR 26, as it will see repairs from its intersection with CR 26 to the end of the road.
County Road 313 and County Road 3147
Both roads will be widened and upgraded with cement stabilization of the base material. For CR 313, the repairs will occur from FM 14 to FM 2015. The section of CR 3147 from its intersection with CR 313 to the end of the road will also undergo repairs.
The project for CR 313 and 3147 will cost $2.3 million and improve 7.237 miles or road. Construction is expected to begin in the next one to two months.
County Road 172
Existing roadway pavement and base materials will be mixed and stabilized with cement before being overlaid with asphalt pavement. The $462,256 project will upgrade 1.572 miles of road and construction is expected to begin in the next one to two months.
County Road 2193
Cement will be stabilized along with receiving asphalt pavement. Just like the other roads, CR 2193 will see existing roadway pavement and base materials be mixed. The road project is going to cost $399,118 and cover 1.345 miles of road. Construction is expected in the next one to two months.
