Goodwill participant wins award

TYLER – Goodwill Industries of East Texas, Inc. is proud to announce that the 2025 winner of the Artie Lee Hinds Award presented at the recent WorkQuest Annual Awards Banquet is Christopher Gates, a program participant of the Commercial Services Division of Goodwill. WorkQuest Texas is a catalyst for employment opportunities for people with disabilities. This private non-profit agency links individuals with disabilities to meaningful career options, through its partners like Goodwill Industries of East Texas.
Gates is a consumer working on WorkQuest projects under contract with Goodwill. Goodwill Industries of East Texas has private business and state contracts to manufacture and package products. One of the products that Goodwill of East Texas manufactures for the state are highway delineators. Goodwill provides document destruction services for state agencies as well.
Gates works on the state contracted products in Goodwill’s Commercial Services warehouse in Tyler, TX and has been with Goodwill for six years.
He lives with his sister, brother-in-law and their seven children. His work at Goodwill not only provides meaningful employment and training in life skills, he said that he is most proud of the contribution that he can make to their household with his paycheck.
