Marshall police make several arrests after a riot at City Park

MARSHALL – According to a press release from the Marshall Police Department(MPD), several individuals have been arrested in connection with a gathering that turned violent at City Park over the weekend that resulted in injuries and disrupted emergency access.
On Sunday, September 14, 2025, at approximately 8:34 p.m., MPD Patrol officers responded to a large disturbance after receiving calls for police response at City Park. The fighting began between two juveniles, and escalated when a large group of adults also became involved. When officers arrived, they discovered that the disturbance had grown to a point where it was obstructing emergency and medical access to surrounding roads near City Park and a local medical facility.
Two juveniles sustained injuries as a result of the incident, and those arrested and charged with Riot Participation include 45-year-old Shameka Shonetay randle, 18-year-old Khirgan Jani Cameron,2 26-year-old Dameion Redd, Jr., 20-year-old Davernious Lamar Robinson, and 24-year-old Diamon Smith – all of Marshall. Also arrested and charged with Riot Participation was 22-year-old Sammya Evans of Jefferson.
In their released statement, Marshall Police say that this incident is part of an ongoing pattern of gatherings that turned violent over the past few months that have created unsafe conditions in public areas and disrupted traffic. On August 31, Marshall Police officers responded to a disturbance at City Park, where a large crowd had gathered in the parking lot, causing noise and traffic complaints.
“Behavior like this endangers everyone involved, including innocent bystanders,” said Marshall Police Chief Cliff Carruth. “Violent gathering in public places will not be tolerated, and those who choose to disrupt community spaces and block emergency access will be held accountable.” Officials say that thier investigation into this incident remains ongoing and additional arrests may be made.
