MOUNT PLEASANT– The City of Mount Pleasant announced the hiring of its new city manager on Wednesday, who has served in several key leadership positions across East Texas.
According to our news partner KETK, Robert Vince is stepping into the role after most recently holding several leadership positions, including city manager for the City of Paris. While in Paris, Vince played a role in advancing operational efficiency and building relationships with community stakeholders, according to the City of Mount Pleasant.
After taking the position, Vince emphasized that his guiding principle will be to “do the right thing at the right time for the right reasons.” Vince also looks forward to collaborating with the Mount Pleasant leadership team to strengthen relationships and move the city forward.
“It is both humbling and exciting to return to the City of Mount Pleasant, where my municipal career began in 1997,” Vince said. “After 16 years of service with the Mount Pleasant Police Department, I left the city in 2013 to advance my career and grow as a professional, which meant leaving the community my wife Krist and I both love.”
“Our focus will not be on the past but on the future,” Vince said. “I would ask the citizens to support our staff and City Council as we work together. Progress will not come overnight, but step by step, every day, we will make it happen.”
Vince also acknowledged the city’s financial challenges and emphasized the importance of transparency.
“We must be deliberate and consistent in demonstrating fiscal responsibility,” Vince said. “While some things may remain out of reach, we will strive to maintain the high level of service our citizens expect with the resources we have.”
