UPDATE: Suspect in Smith County manhunt dies from self inflicted woundUPDATE: BIG SANDY – According to a report from our news partner KETK, Lucas Stevens, wanted for multiple felony warrants, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a manhunt across several Texas counties ended in Smith County.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a wanted man considered armed and dangerous in an area northeast of Big Sandy, according to a report from our news partner KETK.

The sheriff’s office is currently looking for Lucas Steven, 31, in the area of Weeping Willow Road and Scrub Pine Road, northeast of Big Sandy. Steven is described as a large, white man, and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black shirt.

“Stevens is wanted for several felony acts and his actions today indicate that he is desperate,” the sheriff’s office said. “He has broken into homes and stolen firearms and vehicles at different points today.”

According to Upshur County officials, he’s wanted for burglary and theft of an ATV. The sheriff’s office said residents in the area should remain alert, lock any doors and report anything suspicious to 911.
