Marshall police arrest juvenile in armed robbery

MARSHALL – According to a press release from the Marshall Police Department, an juvenile suspect was arrested in an armed robbery on Thursday, August 14. The arrest led officers to recover property stolen in several recent burglaries. During the search for the suspect, officers also apprehended an unrelated individual wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation.
A few minutes after 10 a.m., an Marshall Police officer observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway in the 150 block of W. Grand Avenue. The driver reported she had just been robbed at gunpoint in a store parking lot while meeting someone that she believed was interested in purchasing a pair of shoes she had listed on Facebook Marketplace. The victim provided officers with a photograph of the suspect. The officer immediately broadcast the suspect’s description, and additional units began searching the area. During this search, an individual fled from officers, and was detained.
Investigators determined that the armed robbery suspect lived in a nearby apartment complex. Upon conducting a search, officers located the shoes and the firearm believed to have been used in the robbery, along with several stolen items, and multiple identification cards and credit/debit cards related to a recent rash of car burglaries.
“The quick arrests in this case are the direct result of great teamwork by our officers, investigators, and our partners at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office,” said Marshall Police Chief Cliff Carruth. “This is an example of how fast, coordinated police work can take dangerous individuals off the streets and help keep our community safe.”
Anthony Culberson, 25, of Marshall was arrested for Evading Detention. While not connected to the robbery, he was wanted in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation. The juvenile suspect responsible for the robbery was arrested and transported to the Willoughby Detention Center. Due to the suspect’s age, no further identifying information will be released. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
