TYLER – Following the passing of House Bill 2, which provides public schools in Texas with additional funds and resources, our news partner KETK reports that several school districts across East Texas have permitted raises for their teachers.
During a meeting on Monday, the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2025-2026 Budget and Compensation Structure, which will increase the salary for all Tyler ISD teachers and provide them with a substantial raise.
“We’re incredibly appreciative that the Legislature was able to get House Bill 2 across the finish line,” Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford said. “This means a $2,500 or even $5,000 raise for many of our teachers in Tyler ISD, which is a major step forward in valuing their work and commitment.”

Under the new plan:
The starting salary for certified teachers will increase by $1,500 to $52,000.
Teachers with 1 year of experience, though not funded by HB 2, will receive a $1,500 raise.
Teachers with 2 years of experience, though not funded by HB 2 or included in the previous pay scale increases, will receive a $1,000 raise.
Teachers with 3-4 years of experience will receive a $2,500 raise, funded through HB 2.
Teachers with 5+ years of experience will see a $5,000 raise, funded through HB 2.
Longview ISD
Before the new school year begins, Longview ISD announced a new compensation plan that increases the salaries of its teachers, staff, administration, and hourly employees. The plan was approved after it was previously announced in June that the minimum teacher salary will be set at $55,000.
In compliance with the new plan:
Librarians and registered nurses will receive a $1,500 raise
Hourly support staff will receive a 3 percent pay increase
Administrative professionals receive 2 percent pay bumps
Shalona McCray, the district’s chief human resource officer, stated that the new compensation plan aims to help retain talented teachers while rewarding staff members for their hard work throughout the year.
“We want to stay competitive in recruiting and retaining our best people,” McCray said. “These targeted increases, layered on across all roles, reflect our commitment to fairness and to honoring the work happening in classrooms, libraries, nurses’ offices, and every support role.”
Edgewood ISD
During the Edgewood Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, it was announced that district employees will receive a pay raise for the upcoming school year in accordance with House Bill 2.
The district stated that teachers with five or more years of service will receive an $8,000 raise, while teachers with three or four years of service will receive a $4,000 raise. Additionally, all employees will now be eligible for pay raises of nine to ten percent.
Winnsboro ISD

The district stated that teachers with five or more years of service will receive an $8,000 raise, while teachers with three or four years of service will receive a $4,000 raise.
