TYLER – A man was arrested on the Fourth of July after he admitted to kicking and striking his dog with a surge protector power strip in Tyler, our news partner KETK reports.
According to the arrest affidavit from the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday around 3:30 a.m. Tyler Police talked to Bryson Joe Jeffery at his home on Broadway Avenue after he tortured his dog.
“Jeffery stated upon returning home he found his female dog had caused damage inside his residence which upset him,” the document said. “In frustration Jeffery began to torture the dog by throwing the dog across the home, kicking it, hitting it and striking it with a surge protector power strip which was located broken inside the home.”
The affidavit explained that the dog had noticeable superficial wounds on their back and red bruising and markings on their side and hind leg area.
“Jeffery admitted to striking the dog and throwing it across the home,” the document said. “The dog was seized by Tyler City Animal Control per request by the Tyler Police Department.”
The affidavit said that Jeffery’s dog also allegedly had puppies and a family member saw him leave with the puppies and is unaware where they are. “Jeffery stated he gave away six of the eight puppies and that two of the puppies were killed by the mother,” the document said. “He stated he wrapped the two deceased puppies and placed them in a dumpster and the other puppies he gave away to random people, but could not provide information on who he gave the puppies to.”
Jeffery was arrested for cruelty to non-livestock animals: torture and is being held at the Smith County Jail.
