Smith County Habitat to provide critical repairs for veterans and spouses
Posted/updated on: February 23, 2025 at 9:25 amTYLER ā Habitat for Humanity of Smith County (HFHSC) has grant funds available to complete critical repairs within the homes of Smith County and Cherokee County neighbors who may not be able to afford home repairs otherwise. The affiliate is seeking veterans or surviving spouses who own their home and may be in need of repairs within and around their homes.
The Critical Repairs Departmentās goal is to provide repairs and renovations to make homes safe, healthy,
and more accessible. Projects may include, but are not limited to, installing wheelchair ramps, a new roof
due to leaks/disrepair, heating or AC systems, or new floors that are level, making kitchen cabinets
usable, and making doorways and bathrooms easier to maneuver when using a walker or wheelchair.
Interested homeowners are welcome to call or make an appointment with our team to discuss
qualifications. Applicants must meet the grantorās requirements as well as Smith County Habitatās
requirements for assistance. Our office number is 903-595-6630.
This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Fund for Veteransā
Assistance. The Fund for Veteransā Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their
