Lake Tyler ask Fourth visitors to prioritize safety, clean upTYLER – As crowds celebrating Independence Day at Lake Tyler start arriving, residents in the area ask that people practice safety and do their part to keep the lake clean. Residents want visitors to know that they are welcome to celebrate but want to remind them that it is their home, and they want to keep it beautiful. According to our news partner KETK, a nonprofit in the area is also helping keep the area clean.

Although keeping the lake clean is one priority, another is safety to prevent anyone from getting hurt while on the water. People in the area said law enforcement will be patrolling Lake Tyler so it’s a great place to bring the family.

“You’re coming in and enjoying our lake,” Floy Brucks, Lake Tyler resident, said. “We live here so you know just come back and just cleaning up after yourself makes a huge difference.” “Just be careful out there on the water and just have fun,” Brucks said.

“Keep Whitehouse Beautiful has supplied us with these bags.” Owner of Lake Tyler Marina Resort Brent Allen said. “So, people can take them out on the lake with them and they can put their trash in them. When they’re done, they can throw them away or empty them and use them over again and again, but it’s a great way to keep the lake clean.”

“The number one way to stay safe on any lake is control your alcohol consumption,” Allen said. “You stay safe, keep your eyes open, and look out for your neighbor because they may not be.”
