Fatal shooting in Marshall result of family argumentMARSHALL – Our colleagues at KETK report that Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Investigators discovered a fatal shooting over the weekend is the result of a family argument. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a shooting on Mitchell Road at 11:31 a.m. on Sunday. When deputies arrived, they found 25-year-old Derrick Jamison dead and two other family members with gunshot wounds. Officials said a call came in to report 44-year-old Bryan Jamison, Derrick’s uncle, lying on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg and buttock. The caller also claimed Audrey Jamison, who was identified as the owner of the residence and Derrick’s grandmother, sustained injuries to her head and face from shattered glass.

HCSO said seven deputies arrived at the scene. Bryan and Audrey were taken to the hospital for their injuries.

According to reports, Srgt. Livingston and Investigator Bruno arrived on the scene around midnight.

After interviewing witnesses, they discovered Derrick was a resident of the Mitchell Road home. Witnesses said that an argument began between Derrick and his Grandmother. Audrey wanted Derrick to move out of the home and find a job.

Witnesses said Derrick got angry and went to a vehicle parked in front of the home. Freddrick Jamison, Derrick’s uncle, attempted to calm Derrick down.

Derrick got a handgun from the car and pointed it at his uncle, according to the investigation.

Officials said Audrey was standing on the other side of the vehicle when Bryan began approaching Derrick with a gun pointed at his nephew. They said Derrick fired three shots at Bryan.

The report claims subsequently, Bryan fired back with five rounds. Derrick was hit once and the vehicle multiple times.

HCSO said during the exchange of gunfire, Audrey was wounded.

According to the latest information released, Bryan Jamison is still receiving treatment for his injuries.

The case is expected to be tried by a grand jury, but the investigation is ongoing.
