TxDOT Athens Maintenance Supervisor to Retire

ATHENS — After 34 years with the Texas Department of Transportation, Athens Maintenance Supervisor Tony Buford is set to retire effective August 31. Buford started with TxDOT on June 1, 1977 and performed all the typical roadway maintenance jobs until his promotion to assistant maintenance supervisor in the Mineola Maintenance Section in January 1994. Buford came home to Athens upon his promotion to Maintenance Supervisor in May 2000.
Buford and his wife, Cameron, both Athens natives, have been married 25 years and have two children, Megan, 22, and Joshua, 20.
