TISD First Day Numbers are Down

TYLER — Tyler school officials say the first day of school was successful. But, when compared to the first day of school last year, enrollment was down.
First day enrollment numbers at TISD decreased by roughly 150 students when compared to first day enrollment numbers in 2010. First day enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year totaled 17,310, while enrollment for the first day of classes in the 2010-2011 year was 17,466. Tyler ISD officials stated, however, that first day numbers fluctuate from year to year and that they anticipate enrollment going up in the coming weeks.
