Suspect sought in weekend stabbing

SMITH COUNTY — The Smith County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing and seeking a suspect in a Saturday incident on CR 489. Officials allege 36-year-old Quentin Gardner of Tyler stabbed his brother, 38-year-old Jerry Gardner of Mesquite, during an apparent argument over loud music. The victim is listed in serious but stable condition. Quentin Gardner is described as Black, 5’08â€, 210 lbs., last seen wearing a red shirt and blue shorts. If you know the suspect’s whereabouts, contact the Smith County Sheriff’s Office at (903) 566-6600. Authorities urge you not to try to apprehend the suspect, saying he has made statements to harm himself and is considered dangerous. Quentin Gardner faces a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, with bond set at $400,000.
