Suspect sought in weekend stabbingSMITH COUNTY — The Smith County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing and seeking a suspect in a Saturday incident on CR 489. Officials allege 36-year-old Quentin Gardner of Tyler stabbed his brother, 38-year-old Jerry Gardner of Mesquite, during an apparent argument over loud music. The victim is listed in serious but stable condition. Quentin Gardner is described as Black, 5’08”, 210 lbs., last seen wearing a red shirt and blue shorts. If you know the suspect’s whereabouts, contact the Smith County Sheriff’s Office at (903) 566-6600. Authorities urge you not to try to apprehend the suspect, saying he has made statements to harm himself and is considered dangerous. Quentin Gardner faces a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, with bond set at $400,000.
