WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Louie Gohmert of Tyler is concerned about treatment of suspects in the January 6 Capitol riot. Gohmert acknowledges that any found guilty should be punished. But he tells KTBB, “It seems like the Justice Department is going out of its way to particularly punish people that supported Donald Trump.” Gohmert says people who rioted over the George Floyd incident aren’t getting the same treatment. He also says the commission being appointed to study the riot, though bipartisan, is being chosen by Democrats — which also concerns him.
