Tyler Man Charged in Weekend Stabbing

Tyler Man Charged in Weekend StabbingTYLER — A Tyler man has been arrested following a weekend stabbing that left the victim in critical condition. According to our news partner KETK, the altercation happened around 10 p.m. Saturday at an apartment building on Kennedy Avenue.  The suspect, identified as Cleggan Ware, reportedly stabbed the victim in the chest. The unidentified victim is in critical condition in a Tyler hospital. Ware, 38, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is in the Smith County Jail on a bond of $75,000.

Woman on Parole in East Texas Charged in Houston Area Crime

CONROE — A woman in the Houston area with a criminal history in East Texas heads to prison after what happened while she was driving. Kassandra Nesbitt faces 20 years in prison for intoxication assault. Montgomery County prosecutor Andrew James says Nesbitt crashed in front of an oncoming car on April 13, 2019. The driver of that car, Debra Ringo, and her granddaughter suffered life-altering injuries. According to James, “The investigators from our Department of Public safety determined that Ms. Nesbitt was intoxicated. A sample of her blood shows she was nearly double the legal limit about an hour and 15 minutes after the crash.” He says Nesbitt claimed she wasn’t drinking but there was an open beer in her car. Nesbitt was already on parole for an aggravated robbery in 2003 in Longview.

Suspect Charged with Murder following Assault at Night Club

GREGG COUNTY — The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an assault at a club that left one person dead and another in custody on a charge of murder. According to our news partner KETK, the incident happened just before 3:00 a.m. Sunday at Jaguars on Estes Parkway. Deputies responded to an assault call and found one injured victim, who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Dustin Michael Page, 34, of Gilmer, was arrested and charged with murder. He was booked into the Gregg County Jail with a bond of $100,000.

Wyoming Patrol: Tyler Man Dies after Jumping from Vehicle

SHERIDAN, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming authorities say a Texas man suspected of drunken driving is dead after jumping out of his speeding vehicle while being chased by a state trooper. The Wyoming Highway Patrol says 43-year-old Marshall Acker of Tyler climbed out of his vehicle through his sunroof during Friday’s chase and jumped onto Interstate 90 near Sheridan as his vehicle traveled at around 80 mph. The approximately 5-mile pursuit started after troopers were notified of a suspected drunken driver. Acker was initially spotted driving at 97 mph in a 75 mph zone and failed to stop for a trooper who turned on his emergency lights and sirens.

Former Employee Pleads Guilty to Stealing from Non-Profit

SMITH COUNTY — A Troup woman has pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $200,000 from a children’s nonprofit over a period of three years. Toni Marie Rambo, 54, was the Director of Quality Control at Azleway Children’s Service and oversaw weekly cash allowances to children who lived there. The children would receive a certain amount of money for good behavior and for performing jobs. The Azleway staff would provide Rambo with allowance sheets detailing what each child had earned. D.A. to Seek Death Penalty for Former Tyler Nurse Charged with Murder

SMITH COUNTY — Smith County District Attorney Jacob Putman will seek the death penalty for William Davis, the nurse accused of murdering patients at CHRISTUS Owen Heart Hospital. According to our news partner KETK, the next hearing is scheduled for April 24th in the 114th District Courtroom. Victim Identified in Fatal Longview Shooting

LONGVIEW — One man is dead after a shooting in Longview early Monday morning. Longview Police were called to a shots fired report around 12:45 on Finch Drive. The victim, identified as Damian Devon Daniels, 26, of Gladewater, was found with a gunshot wound. He died a short time later at a Longview hospital. Officials are investigating the shooting as a domestic incident. Additional details were not available.

Palestine Police Arrest Suspect in Weekend Robbery, Shooting

PALESTINE — Palestine Police have arrested a suspect responsible for the robbery and shooting of a Lufkin man early Sunday morning. According to our news partner KETK, Palestine Police were called just after 1:00 a.m. Sunday to Coronaca Street for a reported suicidal man. Police said the resident’s grandson had dropped off Marquise Wade, 21, of Palestine, who retrieved a handgun and left on foot. The resident said she heard a gunshot not long after. SMITH COUNTY — Waters have receded from many county roads that saw high water crossings Wednesday morning. However, at this time, FM 3311 in Smith County remains closed due to flooding and a washout under one lane. Crews are working on repairs and expect to open it by 5 p.m. on Friday. Woman’s Charge Upgraded to Murder following Husband’s Death

SMITH COUNTY — A Tyler man reportedly shot by his wife Tuesday morning has died. According to Tyler Police, Debbie Ann Bryant, 55, confessed to shooting Allen Ferguson, 58. Ferguson died at a local hospital Thursday. Bryant was originally booked into the Smith County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. That charge has now been upgraded to murder. Her bond was set at $250,000.

Former Lindale Coach Arrested for Improper Relationship with Student

 

SMITH COUNTY — A former assistant football coach at Lindale High School has been arrested and charged for having an improper relationship with a student. According to our news partner KETK, Blake Maddox was booked in Smith County Jail on Tuesday on a $20,000 surety bond. He was released the same day. According to Lindale ISD Superintendent Stan Surratt, the district was notified of allegations of an inappropriate relationship on January 28 and immediately began an investigation. Car/Pedestrian Accident in Tyler

TYLER — A woman was injured after she was struck by a truck in Tyler. The accident happened around 6:20 Wednesday morning on West Erwin Street. Public Information Officer Andy Erbaugh said Denise Liberty, 58, Tyler, was walking in the roadway when she was struck by a sanitation truck. Liberty was transported to UT Health on Beckham where she is expected to recover. All lanes of traffic are now open.

Nacogdoches Authorities Find Woman Reported Missing

NACOGDOCHES — The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office has found Macy Lyn Taliaferro, 27. She was reported missing by her husband on Saturday but is now reported safe and in good health. Authorities are voicing their appreciation to those who helped in the search.

Concrete Plant Responds to Concerned Flint Community

FLINT — Residents in South Tyler are ready to stand up and voice their opinions. In a meeting held Saturday, more than 200 people attended to learn more about the proposed concrete batch plant that will possibly be built off Burkett Road. According to our news partner KETK, Tycon Ready Mix has applied to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for the ability to: authorize construction of a permanent Concrete Batch Plant located at the following driving directions: from the intersection of Hunters Trail and County Road 139 (Burkett Road), go north on County Road 139 for approximately 180 feet, site entrance will be on the right, Flint, Smith County, Texas 75762. Accused Rose Rudman Attacker faces New Charges

TYLER — A Tyler man accused of attempted rape and kidnapping at Rose Rudman Park last year has been indicted on new charges of biting and punching three jail guards. According to our news partner KETK, James Roberts, 33, was charged with kidnapping and sexual abuse in March 2019. Roberts allegedly tackled a woman in the park and dragged her into the woods. According to new court documents, Roberts allegedly attacked three Smith County jailers on October 17, and proceeded to bite and punch them. The jailers were eventually able to subdue him.
