A political convention is a spectacle and it is one that convention organizers want to carefully control. That control goes all the way to the signs that the delegates and attendees wave during the proceedings -- primarily for the benefit of the TV cameras.

Here at the DNC in Chicago, we pull back the curtain to reveal how those signs somehow appear all at once.
