New Police Chief for Marshall

Jesus Eduardo Eddie CampaMARSHALL – An El Paso native is the new police chief in Marshall. At a meeting Wednesday night, the city commission named Jesus Eduardo “Eddie” Campa to the post. He succeeds Interim Marshall Police Chief Le land Benoit who retired in May after taking over for ex-Chief Stan Spence. Campa comes to Marshall from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, where he was the chief deputy.

Campa graduated class valedictorian in 1994 from the Detention Officer course and graduated class valedictorian form his Peace Officer Course in 1998 from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Training Academy. Campa, who has a master’s degree in criminal justice, has served in various capacities within the Sheriff’s Office to include being a member of the Special Reaction Team, Patrol Officer, a School Resource Officer, a DARE Instructor, TECLEOSE Instructor, a Defensive Tactics Instructor, a Community Resource Officer and a Field Training Officer.

Campa was named officer of the year by the Alta Vista Optimist Club. Additionally, he is the recipient of numerous commendations during his employment with the Sheriff’s Office.
