Posted/updated on: November 16, 2013 at 4:20 pmTYLER — Tyler police say the Loan Ranger Bandit has struck again. On November 8, he allegedly robbed the Extraco Bank in Lampasas. The F.B.I. and numerous law enforcement agencies in multiple southern states (Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi, Kentucky) are still seeking the identity and whereabouts of the suspect. The F.B.I. has offered a $10,000 reward.
Police say the last bank robbery he committed before the Lampasas heist was on July 12 around 9:00 a.m. According to authorities, that’s when he entered the Santa Fe Community Credit Union in the 1700 block of West Avenue A in Temple and robbed it at gunpoint. The credit union is right off I-35. On May 10, a suspect matching the description of the Loan Ranger Bandit struck a bank in Louisville, Kentucky, around 11:35 a.m.
Police say the suspect has developed a pattern to return to the same banks that he has robbed in the past in several states. In Tyler he allegedly robbed the Altra Federal Credit Union at 5523 Troup Hwy. on August 11, 2011, and the Compass Bank at 6910 S. Broadway on May 17, 2012. Police would like the public to remain vigilant, especially all bank tellers, and to be on the lookout for this suspect and any possible suspect vehicle. Authorities report he has displayed a handgun in all of his robberies and should be considered armed and dangerous. You’re asked to 911 immediately if you observe this suspect.
